A paediatric dietitian is a university qualified allied health professional who supports families and carers of babies, children and adolescents, to manage and/or overcome medical related challenges with feeding, eating, nutrition, growth and development. Most paediatric dietitians have completed additional training specific to the unique needs of this age group, and can apply this knowledge practically, with personalised and evidence-based advice, to assist improvements in health and wellbeing.
The dietetics profession in Australia is regulated, with Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) committing to professional development annually to meet Australian standards of the profession. APDs may choose to call themselves Accredited Practising Nutritionists (APNs).

Telehealth appointments allow a consultation to proceed using videoconferencing technology from the comfort of your home or other private location. We use Microsoft Teams, which is safe and secure. A direct link will be emailed to you upon telehealth appointment confirmation. It is useful to have recent growth measures (weight and height or length) on hand for telehealth appointments.

A food and symptom diary can assist in the assessment of your child. If you wish you can record details of all nutritional intake for 1-3 days in the lead up to your consultation. This might include breastmilk, formula, meals, snacks, along with additional fluids (including water) and any nutritional supplements. Please record volumes consumed as accurately as you can. If you are concerned about discomfort or pain related to feeding (including bowel motions), please also record the type and timing of such events.

If you have concerns between appointments, feel free to email us. Annabel may be able to respond to a quick query via email, otherwise will provide options to either bring your review appointment forward or add your child to a cancellation list. If reading and responding to your email queries takes more time and consideration, this time will be billed. If the matter is urgent, please don’t hesitate to contact Annabel via email and mobile to devise an action plan together.
